The palace which now houses the Ca'Nigra Lagoon Resort was built in the late 19th century for the eccentric Italian ambassador and poet, Costantino Nigra, who, after having served in Saint's Petersburg, London and Vienna, decided to take up permanent residency in his beloved Venice, in the heart of the Santa Croce district, on the banks of the Grand Canal.
